Abstract

Today, the technological revolution is changing the basis of society and the working conditions. In this context, knowledge has become so important that professionals need to be updated. Therefore, new Technologies of Information and Communication (TICs) become relevant when applied to continuing education, because they are tools to improve workers and institutions competitiveness in their professional area. So, it has been made a training needs diagnosis of Chemistry professionals working at the Valencia district public sector to develop a graduate long-distance program. The study was descriptive, non experimental, cross sectional and adopting the documentary and field modality. It was developed in three phases: the first stage to comprehend the diagnosis of the actual bids; the second to diagnosis real professionals needs, and the third was to identify the subject area. In the first phase, the population consisted of the Web Site of the Schools of Bioanalysis of the country and their respective directors, and the criterion sample was the 100% of them. In the second phase, the population was formed by 115 graduate students and the sample by 81. A phone interview was applied to the seven School Directors and a questionnaire to the professionals. It is concluded that only five schools offer training courses. The diagnosis phase showed the ideographic profile of the professionals, that knowledge is updated and fit in the subjects of Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, and Parasitology. The Quality Control area had the highest demand; and the most popular tools are: Word, Internet, email, chat and web pages.
