In this research in progress, it is described digital abilities that are necessary, from the perspective of future EFL teachers,
in their teaching practice. On the basis of both quantitative and qualitative methods, it is analyzed teaching capacities that
have or have not been acquired yet, to explore how future EFL teachers think they can achieve such abilities. The study has been designed in two phases: First, it is a documentary study whereby UNESCO’s Standards of Digital Competences are examined in detail. The second phase is to gather data through a survey applied to fifth semester of TEFL students of two different sections of a b-learning course “Reading and Writing II”, at UPEL-IPC. Results suggest that participants are conscious about the need to properly manage ICTs. Also, they acknowledge the need to have more ICT training to success in their career, as 21st century teachers.
