BUSCAR, SELECCIONAR Y JERARQUIZAR: EL DESARROLLO DE COMPETENCIAS PARA UN USO EFICIENTE DE INTERNET

This work intends to analyze the educational practices developed in the Computing Area at the National University of Quilmes (UNQ), focusing on a central objective: the students will develop research competences and abilities to choose relevant information that could be incorporated to their own academic and professional work. At the UNQ, the Computing subject is present in different curricula, to be able to equip students with the necessary computer abilities.
Although students already have a basic knowledge regarding to the use of Internet, our experience shows that they are lack of specific searching skills to help them to choose academic information; so that, the Computing Area is implementing new strategies to help students to overcome that problem.
The methodology includes different types of activities that causes student´s needs to refine their searches to analyze the significance of the found sites as sources of information. Students must show the method implemented for the search, and also, explain the validate criteria they followed for chosen sites. Finally, students are encouraged to use correct bibliographical cites to avoid plagiarism.
