Abstract

Due to the low academic performance and the high repetition rates among students of Math II at the School of Economics at the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) during the last semesters, Information and Communication Technology (TIC) based educational strategies have been implemented to improve communication and motivation, and to closely follow up the learning process of these students.

Following several attempts of including TIC’s in the teaching learning processes, a pedagogic strategy based in the use and application of WEB tools is introduced by means of a Math II on line course. The strategy aim is to highly and better encourage students to study as well as improve their performance.

This work presents the results of a two semester period in which an on line course was proposed for the subject matter. Those students who voluntarily chose to take it under this modality were evaluated on the same conditions of regular course students.
