Willingness of professors to incorporate the use of information and communication technologies (ict) to support the teaching and learning process at the University of Guayaquil

Abstract

This article aims to present the results about the willingness professors have to introduce ICT to support the teaching and learning process at the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador, specifically, in the career in Engineering of Computerized Management Systems at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences. For this purpose, a field study of descriptive and transactional type, was conducted. A dichotomous survey was applied to a sample of 13 professors, out of a population of 32 subjects within the professorial staff. The results show that 93% of the sample agrees to incorporate ICT into the teaching and learning process. These outcomes lead to conclude that although professors are enthusiastic about applying ICT and consider to have certain skills, it is necessary to initiate a training process in the area to carry out to introduce ICT to support the teaching and learning process.
