CRITERIOS DE EVALUACIÓN DEL DESEMPEÑO DEL PARTICIPANTE EN FOROS ELECTRÓNICOS DE DISCUSIÓN. CASO EDUCACIÓN DE POSTGRADO

Abstract

The Knowledge and Information Society demands teachers to develop curriculum by integrating TIC’s, as an instructional means to develop cognitive skills and abilities. Thus, a blended learning modality was implemented at a doctorate level course, through the use of MOODLE learning system, in an evaluative research experience focusing on the naturalistic descriptive method. The objective was to evaluate several descriptive criteria used to evaluate students’ participation in the electronic discussion forums at graduate level, in an asynchronous curriculum modality. Matrixes were designed to organize data, and the content analysis technique to process it, by deducing categories through the observation of student’s achievement in such electronic forums. The quantitative analysis included the amount of forums established and messages sent. The qualitative analysis focused on the type of dialogue or conversation pattern, contributions made by students, and language and intonation used during conversations. Due to the importance of some elements for the collaborative online work, it was also evaluated the participant’s synthesis capacity, the domain of written language, in- ferences, theoretical argumentative interventions, creativity to present the speech, motivation, tolerance, responsibility, punctuality, commitment, respect, and honesty to judge the participants’ academic performance.
