ESTUDIO COMPARATIVO: INCORPORACIÓN DE LAS TIC EN LA EDUCACIÓN SUPERIOR DE LA UPEL-MARACAY

Abstract

In today’s world, everything is based on technology; nothing escapes to their use, even within the simplest operations. The educational field does not get away from this reality, so that we propose a study aimed to determine the influence of the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), applied to the results of evaluations, at the UPEL - Maracay. The study was framed under the form of a quasitype Field Research. Two groups were identified: Control and experimental groups, as Bisquerra R. (1999) states: “It involves the manipulation of an independent variable so it has control over both variables ”(p. 65). The population was constituted by 9th semester Informatics students, during the academic year 2008-I, particularly 75 students who were registered for the class “Applications of Information Technology in Education”. The sample consisted of fifty subjects total: 25 morning students (section 521), and 25 afternoon students (section 571). The sample represents 66.67% of the population under study. Results show that the use of ICT in the assessment process has no influence on achieving better results or higher rates. However, this assessing method provides students’ greater autonomy and maturity in their performance, and teachers become more efficiency in administrative procedures of the assessment process to be carried out.
