DECONSTRUCTING COPYRIGHT. REFLECTIONS TO RETHINK INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The worldwide controversy caused by the SOPA project revealed a debate without much socialization: What are the im- plications of current copyright laws? The patent system on microorganisms, smell trademark rights, application to public libraries of a fee to users by way of loans from books, are some of the peculiar events that invite us to think about how are being designed both culture and knowledge in this society?
And in the same line, think about the different alternatives being raised to a legal system that seems to increasingly shrink the public domain and thus weaken the cultural, cognitive and spiritual humanity wealth. A case of example is the free software that is no longer merely a technical matter to become a geopolitical challenge.
The present exploratory research, focuses on one of the two major branches of this legal system, the copyrights, to bring to the whole of the social sciences and to society topics for discussion and for deep approach in future research.
