Abstract

The present research study, framed within the qualitative paradigm, was aimed to explore the type of interactions that took place in online forum discussions to support a Reading and Writing English class. These online forums, designed to generate virtual debates, allowed students to interact with other classmates to discuss themes that emerged from the reading of controversial online texts and from viewing online videos. Online activities also facilitate the collaborative work so that
students were encouraged to develop reading and writing in English.
