Las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) y la Enseñanza de la Matemática. Un estudio en la Universidad de Carabobo, Campus La Morita

Abstract

At present, the progress and development of information technologies and communication technologies (ICTs) have allo- wed both students and university teachers to have access and availability to ICT’s which, at the same time, have forced Higher Education Venezuelan institutions to rethink the role and the value they have on the teaching and learning processes. The study is located at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, Campus Morita of The University of Carabobo. It is a qualitative research and an ethnographic method. Results showed that four elements are affecting the use of ICT’s: Institutional context, professors, students and the subject content. Regarding to Mathematic professors, findings reveal different factors, ranging from the assessment, the knowledge of technologies, and the media presence in the institution to the knowledge and mastery of teaching tools. The purpose of the integration goes from promoting mathematical knowledge to pedagogical and didactic elements for the Mathematic teaching and learning process.
